Cakes of 2010

It was a crazy year for cakes for me. I didn't realize how many I had made until I was downloading all the pictures.
This was a challenge for me. I needed to make limes look beautiful and elegant . Mission accomplished. :)

This was one of my favorite cakes of the year. I love the bold orange on white.
My first real attempt at a topsy turvy cake. I loved the comments I got  on how it looked like a Dr. Seuss cake.

A birthday cake for an friends daughter. I made amazing friends through the deployment.

The football and the helmet are also cake. This was a fun one.

My youngest daughter's 5th birthday cake. She is obsessed with Disney Princesses. :)

1st Deployment

Ty left for a year long deployment to Afghanistan on March 21, 2010 with the 144th ASMC.  It was all a little surreal at first. I don't think any of us really had a clue what we were getting into. It was definitely an emotional day for all of us.

This was the start of a year of growing, worry, and changes. Thankfully we all made it through with minimal scarring, and with lessons learned that we never would have experienced otherwise. I absolutely believe that it made us a stronger family, and stronger individually. I am so proud of my husband for serving his country. I am proud of my kids for making it through and believing in their hero every minute he was gone. I am also proud of myself. Any military wife would agree that a deployment is one, if not the hardest thing they have gone through.
God Bless America and those that selflessly serve Her.

My beautiful Family

I am so far behind on this blog that I can never catch up. So instead of trying I am going to just post a few highlights from the last year in the next few days. :)

We had our family pictures taken right before Ty deployed in March of 2010.  Here is a sampling...

Been a long time!

I apparently am a horrible blogger. :) I really haven't figured it all out, and don't take the time to post things hardly ever. I have made a resolution to do better though.
Things have been so crazy this summer. The kids and I moved from Springville to Orem. Ty has been deployed for 4 months now. I have had a lot more wedding cakes than normal. And we have been trying to settle in to our upturned crazy lives at least a little bit. I can't believe that summer is almost over! The kids will be starting school in 3 weeks. Hailey is thrilled, but the boys are a little less excited.

Our lives have changed a lot in the past 5 months. I am striving to make the changes as positive as possible. My kids are so resilient and strong. They have done so well in handling all the upheaval in their lives this year. I admire their strength and willingness to make the best of the situation. I learn a lot from my kids. They are amazing.

I will blog again soon with my cakes so far this summer, and some info on Ty. Till then, thanks for reading. :)

Another Post! Family update

Hello! Well, we haven't posted anything in quite a while. I have been remiss in my duties. :) Life has been pretty busy for all of us. Ty has been working on a big project for his National Guard unit, and it's been eating a lot of his time lately. The plus side of that is that he is getting attention from some pretty important higher ups. We're hoping a better job will come of it soon! The kids are all doing well in school. Hailey adores kindergarten! She also just started piano lessons from her aunt Shannon. She loves those too! Kelsey just had her yearly craniofacial checkup at Primary Children's Hospital. She is doing really well and shouldn't have to have any surgeries for the next few years. Hooray!  She is a firecracker! Always on the go and keeping her mommy on her toes! Gavin is doing well in school. He is my little bookworm. He got 7 new books for Christmas and couldn't have been happier. Carter is doing good too. He has improved in so many things! He keeps me busy too. He has so much energy and imagination! And me, well I've been busy with all the normal mommy things. I'm hoping to take a stained glass class again soon. I really love it! Well that's all I can think of at the moment. I'll try to update more often. Thanks for reading!
